Finally it may be over. After many weeks of discussion. After many days of monopolizing the headlines. After much discussion, finally it may be over.

Packers quarterback Brett Favre chartered a Sunday afternoon flight from his home in Mississippi and landed safely in Green Bay last night and rumor on the streets has it Favre will be reinstated to the NFL tomorrow just in time to practice with the Packers tomorrow afternoon.

According to ESPN, the Packers have taken a 180 on their former stance regarding Favre and are now willing to allow him to compete for his starting job.

With Favre seemingly back in the saddle (because let’s face it, he’s a better player than Aaron Rodgers), Green Bay again becomes one of the NFC’s elite.

The only issue some will have with this is how it will affect Green Bay’s chemistry with Favre back in the fold. But I really believe that is all a non-issue. Favre’s beef was never with any of his teammates. It was with his general manager Ted Thompson. There is only one general inside the Green Bay locker room and it is head coach Mike McCarthy and assuming Thompson keeps his mouth shut, I see this marriage working out for the best.

I just hope it is over.

Headlines:

Braves broadcaster Caray dies at 68 – As a lifelong Brave, I grew up watching ballgames with Caray behind the mic. Needless to say, I am deeply saddened by his passing and wish his family the very best. If there were ever a way to elect an entire family into the Baseball Hall of Fame, I nominate the Caray clan.

Manny’s HR, 3 RBIs power Dodgers – four hits, a HR and 3 RBI, but still such an ego maniac that his former team is better without him.

Redskins beat Colts in Hall of Fame Game – Preseason football is about as exciting as a tumor, but hey, it’s still football.

I am skipping my Top 10 list today to talk to you guys man-to-man or man-to-woman.

Tropical Storm Edouard is churning in the Gulf of Mexico eerily close to the Louisiana coast and while the storm is not expected to be a major threat to either Texas or Louisiana, many people in our state and more specifically in my area are well below sea level and just 2-3 foot seas above normal can cause tremendous problems.

I am not asking for your help as LSU fans, or Alabama fans or Tennessee fans, or whatever fan you may be. I am asking for your help as people. Please, keep my area and OUR area in your prayers tonight and in the coming days.

Thank you!
